Born in Italy in 1977, Bof Rifo started his musical career by studying the guitar. He grew up reading Ranxerox comics (by Tanino Liberatore) and listening to the Rockabilly of the T-birds, and was brought to maturity through the destruction of schematic music learning and that of any other academic subject.
After five years studying Chopin, Beethoven and Debussy, the refusal for the entire genre became Bob’s only natural and viable solution. During this period he started to engage with samplers and other machines linked to electronic music, keeping a strong bond with the punk and new wave styles of the 80's. He experimented with hip-hop, drum and bass, jazz and funk as singer, guitarist, bass player, drummer and sound designer. .
Bob’s first production is dated 1997 and was undertaken with the Northern Italian hip-hop group “Da Fam”. After that, his workload was drastically increased and Bob began to focus on a whole series of different projects: he re-created the soundtrack for Murnau’s “Nosferatu” and for a short movie by New York director Tom Friedman (With Gianluca Di Re, Milan). The “Cafeaudio ep” (Within Records/Movement in Sound) has been compared to Massive Attack, Portishead and Tricky and was well reviewed in some of England’s best-known music magazines.
Bob is actively producing both in an electronic environment, (see for example D&B collaborations with Rollers inc from Turin and Dj Villari from Casino Royale), and in new musical directions, seeking to erase any sort of barrier built by the definition of “Genre”. Furthermore, in 2003 he took to listening to electro and house music structures. After a few months “Wacky Race ep” (QPoint Records) was produced and Bob was called to collaborate with Db Boulevard, Tommy Vee, T&F vs Moltosugo, The Rectangles and many others. Together they created a production group connected with various important European Electro situations. Presently, Bob is co-producing with Marco Bertoni (art producer for Motel Connection) in his first solo project: a punk, indie and rock n’ roll extravaganza that has received great attention around Europe.
