La Grosse Couture

La Grosse Couture
LA GROSSE COUTURE is a seven-piece brass band, playing powerful yet subtle music, and including the following instruments : trumpet, trombone, tuba, alto sax, soprano sax, bass drum, snare drum. Their “patchwork” of songs mixes world music and jazz, with a hint of rock energy.

LA GROSSE COUTURE was born in 1995, playing street music with colorful costumes, theatrical attitudes, and trying to break the distance between the musicians and the audience (they get “very close” to the listeners ! ).

LA GROSSE COUTURE's show is based on improvisation. Musical improvisation of course, but also situation improvisation, that enables them to take benefit of the very particular location that is the street. Since the release of their first full-length album in 2003, “Patchwork” (available in France through Mosaïc Music distribution), LA GROSSE COUTURE have been playing live all over Europe, and are working currently on a new musical show to be played in-door.

LA GROSSE COUTURE has played in all the biggest French open-air festivals, in Châlon s/Saône, Aurillac, Angers, Reunion Island, and abroad : Paleo Festival (Switzerland), Courier Winter Street Festival (England), Hogmanay Festival (Scotland), Arkhangelsk Festival (Russia), Brighton Live (England) and a 15 days tour in Portugal.
