Laura Roppé is a passionate singer/songwriter who was selected as runner up in Kenny Chesney's Next Big Star Competition in May 2008 in San Diego. Laura is best known for her grass roots anthem, “Mama Needs A Girls Night Out,” but the twelve original songs on Laura’s full length debut CD "Girl Like This" reflect a range of songs and musical styles from country rock, folk rock, Americana to southern rock. Each song is unique -- alternatively showcasing rockers, anthems, mid-tempo grooves, and ballads --but all songs are written by Laura from the heart, with catchy choruses, infectious melodies, and clever lyrics. Add to the mix Laura's sultry, confident vocal delivery and impeccable back up harmonies, and you've got a debut album that commands your attention. As the title track says, "You've never seen a girl like this."
Influences include Dixie Chicks, Alanis Morissette, Indigo Girls, Jim Croce, Tina Turner, Sugarland, Bonnie Raitt, Dolly Parton, Phoebe Snow, Joni Mitchell, Shania Twain, and Carly Simon.
