Leo Pari

Leo Pari
In 2005 Leo Pari composed, alongside fellow musician Simone Cristicchi (winner of the 2007 Italian song festival San Remo): “Vorrei Cantare come Biagio Antonacci”, a light-hearted song based on a famous Italian singer-songwriter, which quickly turned into a big summer hit. This success spurred him into launching his career as a musician and things have been looking pretty good since.
Leo Pari is an eclectic Italian artist based in Rome. His music is a mixture of different styles and influences: one minute he is rapping his lyrics over the chords of a live band and the next he has smoothly moved us into the realms of fun, upbeat indie-rock/pop. But his talent doesn’t stop here: Leo also likes to pepper his music with electronic incursions, fat reggae basslines and even the occasional nod to more underground or even folksy styles of music!
In 2006 Leo began his collaboration with Lifegate, an independent Milanese record label and Radio station that promotes much of the Italian alternative music scene. That October his first album “LP” (like his initials but like a vinyl record too!) was published. Inside it we find the track “Un Grillo Per La Testa” which is dedicated to the Italian comedian Beppe Grillo. The song did not fail to catch the attention of the comedian who found it hilarious and decided to make it into one of his signature tunes, accompanying the opening of all his live shows and included in the DVD “Incantesimi” which is still on sale in major retailers throughout Italy.

Grillo successively organized the massively successful "V-Day", a provocative demonstration in all italian major cities, protesting against the corruption of the Italian political class. Again, he turned to Leo Pari for the official soundtrack: the result was a thundering, angry track that gained the musician a good dose of popularity, also thanks to a vast exposure on Youtube.

After the release of his album Leo decided to concentrate on gigging as much as possible and started off on a nation-wide tour which saw him play in some of Italy’s most respected venues. When he isn’t on tour he also has some regular Roman haunts where you are guaranteed to hear him rock the dancefloor on most weekends!
He is currently working on his new album that should be released in the autumn of 2007 and might be called Hobo.
