Having been involved in numerous bands as a teenager and through university as a guitarist, bassist, and vocalist, Jonathan was already primed for producing music.
After getting his degree in religion with an additional focus in ethnomusicology he traveled to Southeast Asia to explore cultures and traditional music. While in Singapore he discovered the burgeoning electronic music scene including chillout, lounge, and downtempo. It was this combination of cultural and electronic music that ignited a desire to produce.
He returned to the states 2 1/2 years later to attend engineering school in order to learn the craft. From there he moved onto San Francisco where he teamed up with Samovar Tea Lounge, a boutique pan-asian tea lounge, to create a soundtrack album that would embody the values and image of Samovar. Six Months later One: Tea Lounge Groove was finished.
