You Are A Hologram is a duo comprising Eddie Mangrum and Matt Michiels. Eddie is a lifelong Nashville resident with many years of guitar playing and gigs under his belt, while Matt is from Mississippi and has a music degree from the University of Alabama.
The two have been playing together since late 2002. The project was initially intended as a full band but after many losses to the line-up, programming was the only option to continue the creative process.
Not that the reduced line-up is really a problem: the brilliant debut album, that combines many influences, from Built To Spill all the way to The Flaming Lips - without lacking in the electronic department, with processed drums varying from subtle to frenetic - is a clear example of the composing level and taste factor at play in YAAH.
