AndreaLoko is an eclectic Italian artist who uses music as his principal way of expression. Other than electronic music software, he plays several instruments among which guitars, synthetizers, piano, percussions and electric bass.
At the young age of eight years old he started playing piano until he rised against the classical method and at the age of fifteen started playing guitar with a rebel attitude.
Time ran on and in 1999 he formed reggae-punk band Torpedo in his own city, Rome, as lead singer and guitarist. From 2000 to 2006 he attended the Testaccio Music School of Rome.
With the band he recorded three albums that were enthusiastically received by the press. In 2006 italian film director Renato De Maria chose the song Tunnel as a soundtrack for his movie "Amatemi" (Love Me), and in the same year the band worked with Libero De Rienzo, a young italian film director, on the soundtrack for ambitious and irriverent movie "Sangue, la morte non esiste" (Blood, death doesn’t exist). His music as been also broadcast by Italian national tv channels such as RaiTre and La7.
In 2006, after finishing his studies in Music Sociology at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" with a work on the audiovisual relationships, he left for a six months travel across South America. It was this journey that inspired the composition of his very own first album, "Musics for a film that doesn't exist".
At the end of 2007 he joined Beatpick. His music attracted the attention of, among others, the Puma company, for the Tretorn shoes ad, and of Italian national tv La7.
From 2007 on he’s been composing and playing music for theatre shows by italian independent collective Margine Operativo.
By 2009, AndreaLoko had played more than two hundred live shows, partecipating in many of the main Italian music festivals, such as Italia Wave Love Festival, Enzimi, Rototom Sunsplash, Invasioni Festival and many others.
In his career he collaborated with legendary Jamaican producer, Lee “Scratch” Perry, New York hip-hop band Dujeous, and with few italian artists known across the European reggae scene, such as Roy Paci and Sud Sound System. Also he’s been collaborating as composer and musician with italian best seller writer Stefano Benni, for a reading performance and for the recording of a DVD.
He’s actually working for Radio Popolare Roma both as conductor and as jingles’ producer.
