I think that inspiration doesn't exsist.
I prefer Stravinskij's way: he stated that composing music is a regular exercise that should be taken care of every day. Pheraps, you go through particular periods: you think they may be inspired periods; sure, it's great to exploit such moments, but I think that a great piece (with great orchestration, and a good timbric fusion) is the result of hard work.
